I guess at this price you get what you pay for but the blade is so thin that when the blade is folded up it rattles in the holder while you walk. I will have to be careful not to bend it with heavy use.

So far, I am very impressed with the Wallace bypass pruner. It is a great value for the price, as substantial a landscape tools I have purchased for 3-4x as much.
I forgot exactly how it had been described when I took it out in my yard (along with a pair of fiskars pruners) and given the heft, used it when the other pair seemed a bit small. It took out woody branches around 1" diameter with no trouble (their description says green live growth up to 3/4")...so in the future I won't push it... or maybe I will just get a back up set (at that's a reasonable thing to do).
Having had it just a week or 2 I can not say how well it will hold up to the elements (and it will surely get a test here). Rust proof? I haven't seen it yet (note this was from another review, not the company's description, so I will not hold it against them if it rusts). All that said, I would guess the most vulnerable part would be that little spring in the middle; also where the "watch those fingers" remark comes from. The design is very similar to a pair of Henckels poultry shears I have. The little spring thing on those does rust and pretty quickly, indoors....but it also makes for greater leverage and ease of use. (In another review I recommended them for arthritis sufferers). These work very well, but that resemblance gives me pause. I can see someone easily removing a digit with these.
It pays to be careful with any tool; the more effective, the more so.

In sum, these are a powerful garden tool, well worth what amazon charges for them, so much so you may want multiples.

I had my doubts about this after trying out the Fiskars version, but am happy to report that this is a simply outstanding tool to have at hand. It's light, well made and sharp - basically, everything you want to have in a pruner/snips.

It will slice through live, non-woody stalks up to about the diameter of a pencil without any problem at all. Perfect for cutting flowers or touch-up pruning. It can also handle woody stalks, but only to about 1/4 inch. Much more robust than the Fiskars. Really easy to maneuver into tight spots - it's replaced my regular pruner for a lot of work. It has a clip on the base to keep it shut, so you can easily slip it into your pocket without any worries about damage (to you, that is, not the pruner).

It's a breeze to sharpen. I recommend the Istor sharpener, but any good sharpener (or stone) will do the trick.

I thought Bahco made everything in Sweden, but according to the placard that came with the clipper, this model is made in France.

Excellent! Highly recommend.
